Hands-on and focused – that’s more than just a slogan; it’s a real opportunity for the future! Before the Swiss Institute of Feed Technology (SFT) was founded in 1979, there was no opportunity to train as a manager of a compound feed plant and to learn how to handle and maintain it. But now it is no longer necessary for managers in this industry to laboriously gather their knowledge while also having avoidable negative experiences.
For many years now, the SFT has been offering further training to all people who have the necessary basic knowledge of individual processes or the functioning of a compound feed plant.
Our location in Uzwil is particularly suitable for this purpose – and not just because of its practical proximity to the train station or Zurich Airport. As our school is located in the Training Center of Bühler AG, we have our finger on the pulse of the times. The Buhler company provides us with access to its infrastructure, for example to its machinery, so that we can put our course contents into practice. The Milling Industry Department also has its training center here, which allows for a productive partnership.
The feed industry is subject to constant change. It is therefore particularly important to meet the increasingly higher demands placed on the variety of end products and the increasingly demanding competitive conditions. The resulting technical and personnel changes in the production facilities make highly trained managers in the field of process engineering indispensable.
The SFT, as an association, has recognized this trend and therefore imparts practical expertise in the production of animal feed. The successful completion of the “Diploma Course in Feed Manufacturing Technology” enables the graduate to understand and operate all modern process technologies and processes in a compound feed plant and to apply them sensibly.
The advantages of our Institute are obvious: by cooperating with the Bühler Group, it is possible to put theoretical knowledge directly into practice. It offers access to the corresponding machines – according to the motto: look and touch. This practical and focused approach has proven its worth: we now have 577 successful graduates from over 73 different countries.
Establishment of the institute in St. Margrethen by Dr. René Bühler, the owner of the Bühler Group at this time. At the original location, a total of 8 courses were held in German and English, with a study period of 10 months.
Move from St. Margrethen to Uzwil and introduction of today’s proven concept.
The SFT now functions as a non-profit association in accordance with the Swiss Civil Code.
The Association of Swiss Feed Manufacturers (VSF) grants the SFT recognition as a training and further education center for production personnel in the feed industry.
The SFT celebrates its successful 25th anniversary and at the same time exceeds the mark of 400 equally successful graduates from over 60 countries.
Reorientation of the training program. From now on the motto is: hands-on and focused.
Introduction of the “Concept 2012” – splitting the diploma course into two blocks in order to relieve the participants of the courses in terms of time. More information can be found here.
SFT introduces the new corporate design, along with restructuring of the organization and administration.
